Circuit and Maven Patterns

A modern version of the Log Cabin Quilt block, the Maven and Circuit Quilt patterns

I almost can’t believe that it’s only February and I’m releasing two new quilt patterns, Circuit and Maven. I don’t plan on making double releases my new norm, but Circuit and Maven are sister patterns and I couldn’t imagine parting them. They might share a few traits, but they have big enough personalities to stand on their own.

Two things inspired the creation of Circuit and Maven. I was in love with the bold, scrappy log cabin blocks that were popular on Instagram back in December. I had made one for a charity project and was craving to make an entire quilt of them. As a pattern designer I don’t get much time to sew for the fun of it. So I wanted to create a modern twists on the Log Cabin block that would allow me the opportunity to play with the colors and shape the way I wanted to.

While designing the Circuit and Maven quilt I was coming up on my two year anniversary of quitting my corporate job and pursuing my dream of working in the Quilting Industry. I had worked in the Semiconductor Industry for 7 years. Don’t worry if you don’t know what that is. I had no idea until I started dating my now engineer husband. Since we’re supposed to be talking about quilting and not semiconductors I will describe it briefly. A semiconductor is an essential component of most electronic circuits, such as computer memory. (See where the pattern name came from?) It’s in your phone, TV, and those amusing singing birthday cards. I was inspired by the shapes and patterns of a circuit board.

I could find only one picture of me from the four years I worked in the clean room. The outfit I had to wear made wearing mask the last few years feel like a walk in the park.

Me working in the Clean Room wearing what is known as a “bunny suit.” I don’t miss it.

I know you’re wondering. Why two patterns then? There were many mockups and designs I cycled through while experimenting with this idea. Of all those ideas I couldn’t narrow it down between the Maven and Circuit designs. Then I remembered. I’m the boss and I’m the one who makes the rules. So I’ve released both designs!

The Circuit quilt is the most inspired by the circuit board. The pattern comes in 4 sizes, Baby (42”X42”), Small Throw (61”X61”), Medium Throw (61”X80) and Large Throw (80”X80”). To make the exact same version of the Medium Throw that I made you can grab the kit HERE from Pear Tree Market.

The Maven quilt pattern is an even more modern twist on the Log Cabin quilt block. The blocks are large and incorporate the ever popular star design. The pattern comes in 3 sizes, Baby (48”X48”), Throw (72”X72”)
and Bed (96”X96”). To make the exact same version of the Throw size that I made you can get a kit HERE from Pear Tree Market.
